I would like for women to become inspired by other women entrepreneurs and showcase the many creative ways you could possibly make money working from home.

Today’s featured womanpreneur is the creative and writer over at Simply Nourished Wellness.

As women, we have so many gifts and talents that overflow and we want to present them to the world!

However, we also need to know our boundaries as I explained in this blog post: 5 Key Elements for Creating Healthy Boundaries.

Some women become business coaches, health coaches, and motivators because they just want to share their expertise and help others grow.

Well, today is no different. I would like to welcome Stephani, a nutritional therapist, to talk to us about her business and how you too can use your gifts and share them with others and make money as well.

Thank you for sharing with my readers and I, the many amazing benefits you’ve experienced as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP).

Let’s get to the wonderful part of your business and help us learn a little about yourself and how you help others, while at the same time help your family with the financial aspect.

Being a Nutritional Therapist

I’m Stephani Halderman and I’m a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. I live in WI with my husband and 2 teen daughters.

Tell us about your business. How did you start your business? What made you decide to go into nutrition and wellness?

I have been blogging about nutrition/health/fitness for a few years. Nutrition has been an interest of mine for a long time.

I wanted to know what to eat and also WHY. Part of this why was just my curiosity, but I also knew that I wanted to feel my best and do the best I could for my own health.

After learning a lot through reading books and blogs, I decided that I wanted to dig in deeper so that I could help more people & expand my knowledge.

In 2018 I completed the Nutritional Therapy Practitioner program from the Nutritional Therapy Association. After completing the program, I started Simply Nourished Wellness.

In my business I work with people to help them address health concerns and reach their health goals using nutrition and lifestyle changes.

How do you help those that feel exercise isn’t for them? What recommendations do you give?

I’m a firm believer in the need to move your body! However, this can look quite different depending on the person, their abilities, stage in life, and current health.

Above all I encourage people to walk as this is something that most can do.

We were not meant to sit all day! My next recommendation is strength training. Building muscle is so important for our overall health.

While I love lifting weights, I know some prefer bodyweight exercise. If it’s building muscle, it’s a great place to start! Find something you love and do it!

How long have you been in business and how long did it take you to get clients and start seeing income?

This one is hard to answer as I’ve only officially been in business for about 5 months. I’ve been currently working on building my business foundations and relationships with my followers.

This effort has shown results and I’ve begun to get clients. I’m hoping this only grows from here!

Do you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert? How has this helped/challenged you and your business?

I’m definitely more introverted, which is why I love to work from home and be my own boss. However, I love working with clients like I do. I am all about personal connection and getting to know people and their needs.

Being an introvert does allow me to focus and get work done in the quiet of my home and I think it does help me connect with my clients. I do think it can be a drawback when it comes to networking and putting myself out there, though. That’s something that is more of a struggle for me.

Were there any startup costs to build your business?

Since I work from home, the startup has been minimal. I also already had my website/blog up and running. I have added some monthly services that I wasn’t using in the past. I did have the costs of forming an LLC, and of course the cost of my training through the NTA.

Did you face any challenges while starting your business? How did you overcome them?

One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to use social media to both attract & convert clients. There is definitely a learning curve there! I’ve done a lot of research, watched a lot of webinars/trainings, and watched what others are doing to learn from them.

Were there any learning curves while starting your business, did you take courses, and if so, what do you recommend to those wanting to go into this field of business?

Again, social media as well as growing an email list. I did some free courses, challenges, and webinars and picked up a lot of information from each training I did.

I kind of meshed all of that information together to form a plan that worked for me using the knowledge from these experts.

The advice I would give is that it’s good to seek out help and information on how to approach social media to get the best results.

I had no idea what I was doing when I started (despite thinking I was doing just fine). Seek out social media experts, join their free challenges and training, ask questions, take notes.

For those starting out and feeling overwhelmed or not being able to land their first client as a nutritionist, what piece of advise would you give them?

Make sure that you are speaking to your specific niche. Don’t try to help the world. When working online, that just doesn’t work.

Find your passion and niche down and speak to those people. Provide amazing value to them & connect with them.

Being an entrepreneur takes lots of organization and time management, how do you keep yourself accountable to meet client workload? Any systems or software recommendations?

I don’t use anything fancy at this point, but I do block off specific time frames to work on specific tasks. This helps me keep focused on that task only and helps me to be more efficient.

I work better on a schedule with structure in general, but since I’m my own boss, I can change it at any time if it’s not working for me!

Any resources or books you recommend to those wanting to eat more healthy?

I have a free resource called Meal Planning 101 that teaches people how to plan their meals so that they can save time & money and get healthy food on the table.

It includes a 1-week meal plan with shopping list & meal prep instructions. Two of my favorite, easy to read books on nutrition are Practical Paleo by Diane Sanfilippo, and Eat the Yolks by Liz Wolfe.

Any additional comments or advice for those wanting to go into this service-type business?

Follow your passion – if you love nutrition & fitness, go with it & start your business. There are so many people out there that need you and what you can offer.

Just when I think that everyone knows about nutrition, I meet someone who doesn’t know what a carb is or hasn’t heard of macros before.

Conclusion
