Daily Post: Stroke of Midnight
Where were you last night at midnight? Would you have wanted to be somewhere else?

The day was full of activities and family gatherings for us. As we were on the way to my in-law’s house, I was writing about yesterday’s daily post. About who I wanted to be for today, January 1, 2016.  Once at the in-law’s home, kids were running around playing hide-and-seek and I wondered, how can children be so innocent and naive about the world around them. Don’t they know that in just a few hours it will be a brand new year?!

But of course not, that is of no interest to them. Why should it be? They are having fun no matter what the day, the hour or the second. They are full of life and energy; why can’t we be like them?

After we left their home, which was around 6 p.m. we went to rent a few movies to watch back at our place. My hubby rented one for the kids and two for us. After they finished their movie, we were still watching ours, so they came to hop in bed with us to finish it up. Of course, the youngest fell asleep while the other was wide awake.

After the movie ended we switched on the TV since there were a few minutes to twelve. We watched the special of American rapper Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution.

Once the clock stroke midnight, everyone cheered and hugged and gave kisses…on TV that is. I turned to my son who was between my hubby and I and told him in Spanish, “feliz año nuevo,” or happy new year in English, gave him a kiss on his forehead and took a selfie. I’m not a selfie kind of person but wanted to take it to send it to my family and wish them the same. After that, I told the same to my hubby and turned off the TV to rest for the beginning of a new year.

So, would I have wanted to be somewhere else? No, I was where I wanted to be, snuggly in my bed with my boys. I would not have it any other way.
